United States Department of Energy

  • Alternative Fuel Vehicle Fleet Buyer's Guide, Search the DOE light duty AFV database for details about vehicle ordering windows and production schedules. The DOE maintains and updates the database in direct cooperation with the original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
  • Cooperative Automotive Research for Advanced Technologies CARAT) Program, The Cooperative Automotive Research for Advanced Technology (CARAT) Program is designed to take the most promising ideas from small businesses and universities, fund the development from bench-scale to engineering-scale prototype, and then marry the concept with a manufacturer or supplier possessing the know-how and resources to take the concept to market.
  • Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy Network , A gateway to hundreds of Web sites and thousands of online documents on energy efficiency and renewable energy.
  • Energy Information Administration (EIA), The Energy Information Administration (EIA) is a statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy. The EIA provides policy-independent data, forecasts, and analyses to promote sound policy making, efficient markets, and public understanding regarding energy and its interaction with the economy and the environment.
  • Office of Transportation Technologies, The OTT works with industry to develop and deploy advanced transportation technologies that reduce the nation's use of imported oil and improve air quality.
  • Hybrid Electric and Fuel Cell Vehicles, The Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) Program officially began in 1993. The program was developed as a five-year cost-shared program that was a partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the three largest American auto manufacturers: General Motors, Ford, and DaimlerChrysler. The "Big Three" committed to produce production-feasible HEV propulsion systems by 1998, first generation prototypes by 2000, and market-ready HEVs by 2003. The site was later expanded to include fuel cell vehicles.
  • Argonne National Laboratory, Energy resources programs at Argonne are helping to secure a reliable supply of efficient and clean energy for the future. Argonne scientists and engineers are developing advanced batteries and fuel cells, as well as advanced electric power generation and storage systems.
  • Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) conducts basic and applied research and development to create scientific knowledge and technological solutions that strengthen the nation's leadership in key areas of science; increase the availability of clean, abundant energy; restore and protect the environment; and contribute to national security.
  • National Renewable Energy Laboratory, The U.S. Department of Energy's premier laboratory for renewable energy research & development and a lead lab for energy efficiency R&D.
  • Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory, The INEEL is a multi-purpose national laboratory delivering science and engineering solutions to the world's environmental, energy, and security challenges.
  • California Fuel Cell Partnership, This partnership is advancing a new vehicle technology that could move the world toward practical and affordable environmental solutions. For the first time ever, automobile companies and fuel suppliers have joined together to demonstrate fuel cell vehicles under real day-to-day driving conditions.

  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), EPA provides leadership in the nation's environmental science, research, education and assessment efforts.
  • EPA/DOT - "It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air", A unique public education and partnership-building initiative developed collaboratively by several federal agencies to help regional, state and community efforts to reduce traffic congestion and air pollution.
  • Surface Transportation Policy Project, The goal of The Surface Transportation Policy Project is to ensure that transportation policy and investments help conserve energy, protect environmental and aesthetic quality, strengthen the economy, promote social equity, and make communities more livable.
  • Federal Transit Administration, The FTA provides leadership, technical assistance and financial resources for safe, technologically advanced public transportation which enhances all citizens' mobility and accessibility, improves America's communities and environment, and strengthens the national economy.
  • FedWorld, The FedWorld.gov web site is a gateway to government information. This site is managed by the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) as part of it's information management mandate.
  • Federal Laboratory Consortium for Technology Transfer, Nationwide network of federal laboratories that provides the forum to develop strategies and opportunities for linking the laboratory mission technologies and expertise with the marketplace.
  • U.S. Department of Transportation - Technology & Innovation, Works with state and local governments, industry and academia to eliminate barriers to innovation, hence strengthening and shortening the transportation innovation process. Also develops cooperative agreements and leverages partnerships to foster innovation and support technology transfer in the transportation community.
  • Clean Cities Program, The U.S. Department of Energy's Clean Cities Program supports public-private partnerships that deploy alternative fuel vehicles and build supporting alternative fuel infrastructure.

  • California Air Resources Board (CARB), Promotes and protects public health, welfare and ecological resources through the effective and efficient reduction of air pollutants while recognizing and considering the effects on the economy of the state.
  • California Energy Commission, California's primary energy policy and planning agency.
  • Puget Sound Clean Cities Coalition, A collaboration of public and private agencies and businesses working to promote the acquisition and use of alternative fuel vehicles and to create a network of alternative fuel facilities.
  • South Coast Air Quality Management District, The South Coast AQMD is the air pollution control agency for Orange County and major portions of Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Riverside counties in Southern California.
