We take every opportunity to give people the opportunity to experience the reality of a plug-in hybrid. President renews call for energy alternatives. Last week we had the opportunity to extoll their benefits by giving the President's top environmental advisor a test drive and a ride back from Silicon Valley meetings to San Jose Airport. Jim Connaughton, chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, told reporters on Air Force One that he drove a plug-in hybrid last week that got 156 miles to the gallon. "All of these technologies will enable a switch to renewable fuels, initially ethanol, increasingly biodiesel, and then ultimately, consistent with the president's State of the Union initiative, cellulosic ethanol, that can be made from a wide variety of plant materials and plant waste materials," he said.
