Jim Connaughton, chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, told reporters on Air Force One that he drove a plug-in hybrid last week that got 156 miles to the gallon. "All of these technologies will enable a switch to renewable fuels, initially ethanol, increasingly biodiesel, and then ultimately, consistent with the president's State of the Union initiative, cellulosic ethanol, that can be made from a wide variety of plant materials and plant waste materials," he said.
